The new Opel Grandland wins the "Golden Steering Wheel 2024"
- “Best car under €50,000”: The new premium SUV has won the gold award.
- Serial winners: To date, the brand has already received 21 "car Oscars".
The new Opel Grandland, which will soon arrive in Slovenian showrooms, has already achieved its first major victory. The premium SUV has won the "Golden Steering Wheel 2024" in Germany. Stylish, dynamic, spacious, and with an electrified range of powertrains – all these arguments convinced the expert public to declare the newcomer "made in Germany" as the "Best car under €50,000". The award, presented by AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG, is recognized as one of the most prestigious in the automotive industry. This year's award for the completely new Grandland means that Opel has now won a total of 21 "Golden Steering Wheels".
“The new Opel Grandland brings the automotive future to the roads. It is the first Opel on a platform designed for BEV (battery electric vehicles). This allows for suitable locally emission-free ranges combined with exceptional comfort. This combination, along with bold and clean Opel design, is something special. We are thrilled that AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG have recognized this innovation with the Golden Steering Wheel,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl at the award ceremony in Berlin's Axel Springer Haus.
“The Opel Grandland impresses with its distinctive design and modern dashboard. It also shows how important it is today to offer customers freedom in choosing the powertrain. Whether hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric – everyone will find the right version,” said AUTO BILD editor-in-chief Robin Hornig.
Opel has clearly demonstrated what "German energy" means with the concept vehicle Opel Experimental and how the brand envisions the future of automotive. The Opel Grandland is already realizing many of these visionary innovations. The premium SUV is the first Opel on the STLA Medium platform designed for BEVs, offering numerous groundbreaking technologies, smart equipment, and sustainable solutions. It always impresses with the new 3D Vizor – depending on the equipment, even for the first time with an illuminated Opel logo. From the rear view, the Grandland also features a continuously illuminated "Opel" inscription.
In the cabin, Grandland drivers look at two wide screens. Together with the optional Intelli-HUD (head-up display), they ensure that the driver can always keep their eyes on the road. Additionally, the Pure Mode reduces the displayed content to the essential minimum at night or at higher speeds. Ergonomic seats with individually adjustable side supports, certified by the Healthy Back Association (Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V. – AGR), also provide a clean and above all relaxing driving experience; the patented ergonomic Intelli-Seat function is standard for both front seats. Safety and comfort are enhanced by features such as adaptive, glare-free Intelli-Lux HD lighting with over 50,000 elements, and a practical Pixel Box with an illuminated, transparent glass surface, under which a smartphone can be charged inductively. With up to 1,645 liters of trunk space, the new Grandland offers plenty of room for luggage.

This prestigious award, presented by recognized European automotive media, confirms Grandland's status as one of the most desirable SUV vehicles in its segment. In the category of "Best car under €50,000", Grandland stood out with an exceptional combination of performance, advanced technology, safety, and elegant design.
Exceptional design and German quality
The new Opel Grandland follows Opel's design philosophy, characterized by a clean, bold, and elegant appearance. The exterior of the vehicle reflects sophistication and dynamism, with the prominent Opel Vizor grille seamlessly connecting with the slim LED headlights. Aerodynamic elements and carefully crafted lines contribute to improved energy efficiency and highlight its modern shape.
The Grandland is designed, developed, and manufactured in Germany, ensuring a high level of precision and reliability. Despite being an SUV, the vehicle maintains compact dimensions that allow for easy maneuvering in city traffic and parking in tight spaces.

Fully electrified powertrains
The Opel Grandland offers fully electrified powertrains that combine power and efficiency. A fully electric version is available, which allows for a range of up to 700 kilometers on a single charge according to WLTP standards. Electrification not only leads to lower emissions but also enhances the driving experience. Electric motors provide instant acceleration and a smooth ride.
In addition to the electric version, plug-in hybrids are also available, combining a gasoline engine and electric drive for optimal performance and low fuel consumption. Advanced powertrain systems also allow for the selection of different driving modes that adapt the vehicle's operation to various driving conditions.
Advanced technology for greater safety and comfort
The new Opel Grandland is equipped with the latest technologies that ensure greater safety and comfort. Among the most important is the Intelli-Lux Pixel HD lighting system, which contains over 50,000 individual light elements. This system adjusts the lighting to road conditions, improving visibility and reducing glare for other road users.
Additionally, the Grandland features a comprehensive set of advanced assistance systems, such as:
- Automatic emergency braking
- Pedestrian recognition
- Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function
- Lane departure warning
- 360-degree camera for easier parking.
The interior of the vehicle is also designed with the driver and passengers in mind. Ergonomic seats, certified by the AGR organization, offer exceptional comfort, even on longer journeys. Among the innovative features, the Pixel Box stands out, allowing for wireless charging of smartphones, while the infotainment system can sync with devices via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Spaciousness and adaptability
The Opel Grandland boasts a spacious interior that allows for comfortable travel for five passengers. The trunk space is also adaptable and offers plenty of room for luggage, making the vehicle an excellent choice for family trips or daily errands. The foldable rear seats allow for an increase in trunk space, which is ideal for transporting larger items.
Environmental focus
With the Grandland, Opel demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development. In addition to the electrification of the vehicle, materials that contribute to reducing the carbon footprint are also used. The vehicle is equipped with a regenerative braking system that converts kinetic energy into electricity, contributing to improved energy efficiency.
The new Opel Grandland is not just a car, but an experience. With its elegant design, top-notch technology, and powerful electrified powertrains, it offers everything a modern driver needs.
