AMZS has tested 28 winter tires in two sizes, 205/55 R16 and 215/55 R17, for passenger cars and crossovers in its latest test.
AMZS conducted an extensive test of winter tires in two popular sizes: 205/55 R16 H and 215/55 R17 V, which are commonly used on passenger cars and SUVs. The test included 28 different tire models, which were evaluated based on key criteria such as behavior on wet surfaces, grip on snow, fuel consumption, wear, and noise. The tests revealed significant differences between brands, indicating that the wrong choice of tires can greatly affect safety and driving efficiency in winter conditions.
Premium brands such as Continental, Michelin, and Goodyear performed the best, demonstrating excellent grip on wet and snowy roads and high wear resistance. Among them, the Continental WinterContact TS 870 stood out with balanced results, especially on wet and snowy surfaces. In contrast, four tires stood out with negative ratings, as they showed deficiencies primarily in wet grip, posing a risk for safe driving.

In recent years, weather conditions have become increasingly extreme and unpredictable, making the choice of quality winter tires even more important. Drivers must be aware that the right tires not only enhance safety but can also contribute to lower fuel consumption and a more comfortable ride. AMZS advises that drivers always check the latest tests when choosing tires and avoid budget-friendly but poorly rated tires, as saving on purchase can lead to higher costs in the long run.
When choosing, it is crucial that the tires are suited to the conditions in which you will be driving the most – from urban roads to rural snowy paths. At the same time, we must not forget about the correct tire pressure, as it is a key factor for optimal performance and safety.
Choosing the right winter tires is essential for safety in winter conditions. We recommend consulting with experts and checking the latest test results before making a purchase.
